Sorry for the delay! I see that some were wondering why it took so long between Thursday and today to post. Just FYI, we have to do some post-production (the most obvious is the insertion of the music), and that takes some time. So, sorry for the delay and look for big things from us in the very near future!!

Thanks for all the work you two put into this podcast. It is very much appreciated and with the departure of Joe Steadman from "The dice tower" it now means that you have your own niche! It also means that I have a new podcast to make my credit card quake as every good review tempts me to a new purchase.

One small point but a pet peeve of mine. You mentioned "Up Front" and I checked the box cover of my copy and can not find the word "Advanced" anywhere on it - it says "The Squad Leader card game". SL is still around, played and supported by a strong virtual community. Sometimes I think that ASL'ers want to airbrush it away but it's just not going to happen

Great Job on podast #5! Crusader Rex sounds like a winner. I will have to add it to my games-to-buy list.

While I'm here let me ask you this:

You both seem to think "Napoleonic Wars" is a fantastic game. I dont own it, but I do own "Age of Napoleon" by Phalanx games. It is also a card driven game and is simply gorgeous to look at. I have only played it twice, but it seemed pretty good. Have you play this one, and how does it compare to Napoleonic Wars?

Hi Guys,

Love your podcast! Very good information, great give and take between the two of you, very well done overall, and just a whole lot of fun for me to hear. Thanks for the time and energy you guys put into this.

Question: In podcast #4 (I think), I remember hearing that you guys would talk about your list of "5 dice" games in the next podcast. Did I hear that wrong, or is that something you plan to do in the future?

Keep up the good work. Thanks again.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

Yep, you're right, that was the plan, but then we decided to revamp the whole rating system and realized that our top game list is kind of, well, half-baked.

We're going to do this in the future, though!

Excellent show! Looking forward to Episode 5. You've inspired me...I bought Crusader Rex on preorder, but haven't yet played it. I like Liberty and Hammer of the Scots, but just haven't had the time to play CR. Time to give it another long look.
Best,

 Feedback and question
That's another great show, and I enjoyed it very much. I prefer it now that you have distinct breaks between sections, though you may want to think about shortening those sound clips just a little bit. A 2-3 sec sound blip is more than sufficient as a break, I think.

But overall, I think it was a very well done show, and I enjoyed your new format of reviewing games.

I've also always enjoyed your previous shows, and I think you guys fill a very distinct niche here. Keep up the great work!

I do have a question I hope you'd discuss about regarding king-making. You've both mentioned about how you hate king-making, and that each player (in a multi-player game) should just play the game.

I am, however, not opposed to king-making at all, and sometimes enjoy an element in it. The way I see it, it's important to have allies in a multi-player game, and while I won't base my entire game on only assisting one party, if I can secure a victory for an ally, whilst improving my own relative position AND cause the demise of an enemy, I'd most definately take that move.

Or in a situation such as this: The game is about to end, and I'm going to take my turn. My move won't change my relative position (say... 3rd place). But one move would either help Player A maintain a runaway lead, and the other alternative would raise Player B to 1st place, hamstring Player A and reduce the overall difference in points between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd player. This is most definately a king-making situation. What would you do in this case?

Just in case, I made the post above, and my name is Ken.

Looks odd to have anonymous in that post there when I was asking a question and all.

Jason and Scott,
Another great show! The in-depth review of Crusader Rex was great. I'm a big fan of block games, particularly Hammer of the Scots and EastFront, and was definitely interested in Crusader Rex...looks like it is going on my buy list!

Thanks for a great show.
Nick

Jason&Scott, thanks for the comments and another great podcast. With Stedman leaving the dice tower I think the wargaming podcast baton has been passed to you guys.

I agree with you guys, CRex is a very good game... one of my current favorite block games. It is hard for the Franks but I've won as them, it definitely can be done. The 1.3 version of the rules fixed a specific Saracen tactic that was unbeatable, but it's no longer an issue. Another excellent podcast, keep the quality stuff comin!
